Re: The Village
One thing is worth noting: WoW raptors are clearly highly intelligent.
They live in families, they can clearly communicate well with eachother, they build structures to protect their nests, they construct jewelry to wear.
The three first are of course things you can see among animals, but the jewelry part is what makes them seem so much more than that. As far as I know, there are no animals that construct decorations for themselves, especially not as detailed as the feather, bead and string jewelry you can see present on raptors. I think raptors are far smarter than we give them credit for. Which may of course be why trolls choose them as their mounts, seeing how they would be able to think on their own much more than a regular mount.

Re: The Village
As for breeding, simply walk around Un'Goro and watch how are they nesting - many smaller nests, a few bigger ones and a matriarch (as a rare mob in-game) wandering between them all makes me think that every raptors are nesting whenever they wish to, but one of them plays the role of nest overseer. Plus, as the tauren over there said, the alpha raptor is breeding (which is reasonable - only the best should reproduce, to keep whole pack as strong as possible) and he chooses many females. We can simply wander around and watch the raptors, to check how it's done. Anyone volunteers?

Re: The Village
From what Kaz'jo says, I can pretty much imagine raptors living in a structure somewhat similar to chimpanzees, wolves or lions (apart from the nesting part, of course). A pack consists of several males and females, and one pack guards a territory with nesting grounds, where all females nest together. Every female is responsible for their own offspring, but they may help each other in raising them - probably some females watch over all the nests when the others are on the hunt. Males have a strict dominance structure, and the dominant male can mate with multiple females. The females advertise when they are fertile with odour. The subordinate males might have an opportunity to mate when there are many fertile females around.
The beads and jewels indeed show that raptors are of relatively high intelligence - I wonder how are they able to create that difficult jewelry with their clawed hands. Because of that, trolls are most likely either very respectful with their raptor mounts, or very brutal and force them to be very submissive - otherwise they would not allow them on their back.

Re: The Village
Well ... what animals do we have in the guild .. IC ofc.
I now Had has his raptor, and Kaz has one. Ry is driving around in her MC ... and rest I have no clue. And then ofc we have ourd digniter from the Ashen Order, but with the big space he has ... he can have his mount in there ;P
Oh yes .. we have a Ashen Order embassy in the valley ^^
If we do not have any (or many) other animals than raptors ... it ill be enough wit one big pen for raptors, and then some small ones for visiting characters.
And once the visitor village is built ... it might be an idea to have there animals close to that location.

I'll make an updated map at some point, where the pens are pointed out, the "embassy" and the place where we're planning to plant our crops.

Is the Heritage going to do some agriculture? I can't imagine the primarily carnivorous trolls growing vegetables, or even breeding livestock; all meat and the little vegetable they need can be gathered from the wilderness.
Although the fact that they built cities suggests that they had a reason to settle down - which means they actually might have had some agriculture instead of being simple hunter-gatherers.
Re: The Village
Ry's plan is that they should aim to be capable of producing all food they need within a year. Sure, there are fruits and vegetables that can be gathered in the vally, but growing our own will be safer.

Re: The Village
What? no meat...
How about capturing and breeding some animals for food and perhaps to sell to others as we most likely have to move to "civilisation" to trade in for ... (eeh.. cant think of sometin now) someting we might need, that we cant find in the jungle or create by ourselves.

You can get plenty of meat from the jungle, there are raptors, tigers, panthers, basilisks, gorillas, murlocs, ogres, goblins and pirates for a start. Ry is right in that fruit is rare in the jungle, and growing at Antu'Rah would be practical.
What animals would you like to breed for food, anyway? Sheep, cows? Those are only for humans. Keeping tigers as livestock, on the other hand, would be also odd.

Everything tastes like chicken.
Re: The Village
lol, tiger farm sounds like fun to me!
but back to the agriculture thing, fruit and herbs, especially medicinal ones, would probably be very useful for us to grow. Saves our witch doctors having to go search for the ingredients for their potions

Re: The Village
The irony in tiger farm is that tigers are carnivores... which means you either have to hunt to feed them, or breed some herbivore for their food. But then, why don't you just eat the meat you hunted/bred instead of feeding it to the tiger?
Re: The Village
We can always breed the tigers for security purposes, like Hadunka said - guarding animals = good idea, and nothing is better than raptors and tigers. Maybe except dragons, but I doubt we can tame any...

Re: The Village
Guard tiger is a good idea, but you cannot really call that "farming"...
Kaz'jo, do you want to train dragons for guard?

Re: The Village
Snicka, why not? Vrykul are using proto-drakes, we can use draconids, too - just need some heatproof underwear. Maybe Chromie would be so nice and let us tame her?
But seriously - I rather doubt that any dragon would be tameable, but who knows... maybe eventually we will end up breeding firebreathing reptiles?

Re: The Village
well, i don't want to put anybody out. I didn;t know it was being used and thought it would be a nice sheltered spot for a garden.
If anybody has any suggestions for another place in the village, i'll bejust as happy
But on the note of where we park our steeds, it might be an idea for a litte rp for those of us who use raptors in the valley to train our mounts to head to the Raptor pens when we dismount and come to us when we call them? (if that would even be plausible )
