Being a Primal Empty Being a Primal

Post  Snicka Tue Jun 24, 2008 10:41 pm

I found an interesting thread on the official WoW forums, and added my knowledge.
If you want to roleplay your troll as a true primal (not just by name, but by style), then I hope you find it useful!

Being a Primal Empty Re: Being a Primal

Post  Snicka Fri Jun 27, 2008 3:00 am

In case the thread disappears from the WoW forums, I'll make an extract of it.
A player called Annuvin would like to roll an RP-character, a troll primal. He asked several questions how to make his appearance and personality more fitting. I replied to him with the best of my knowledge.

Annuvin:
According to info, the primals fight with minimal clothing, using their fangs or claws that grow while they become more and more like the beast within. Is there anyone who can help me think of an outfit/gear or ways to role-play this?

Snicka:
There is a wide range of barbaric harnesses and loincloths you can wear as a primal; mostly made of leather. I also suggest you to wear a wolf mask - there are various head-pieces in the game that look like a wolf's head. As for weapons - it's fist weapons you should use (many of them look like animal claws), or else primitive maces made of animal bones (like Large Bear Bone).

Annuvin:
The Primal takes on a certain animal’s aspect, but what animals is there to choose from? I’ve read that the Primal takes on the animals physical characteristics, if so, can the Primal for instance roar like a bear while enraged or loose the ability to interact normally with other humanoids, or can they at all interact with their animal counterparts?

Snicka:
About the animals to choose from: the bosses of Zul'Gurub and Zul'Aman are the Primal Aspects of several troll deities (or Loa). The primals are most likely take on the aspect of one of these Loa; for jungle trolls it is the Bat, Tiger, Panther, Snake and Spider; for forest trolls, it is the Bear, Lynx, Eagle and Dragonhawk. There might be other Primal Loa too we have not yet encountered in game (like those devoted by the Zul'Drak trolls in Northrend - perhaps polar bear, frostsabre, mammoth and snowy owl), and Ghar'Zillah in Zul'Farrak might be the Primal Aspect of the Hydra. You can come up with an original primal aspect too, based on the fauna of the place you are from (like a Boar, a Wolf or a Raptor aspect).

Annuvin:
s the Primal class exclusive to certain troll tribes? For example, I think the bosses in Zul’aman (even though made that way by voodoo) are sort of Primal like so maybe the Primals originate from forest troll cultures? I might have missed out on some info on this one.

Snicka:
I think any of the troll tribes can involve Primals; there are certainly primals among the jungle and forest trolls, see above. The Darkspear tribe is less likely to involve primals, since they gave up many of their primitive traditions after joining the Horde.

Annuvin:
The info I read on wowwiki about Primal Warriors wasn’t that satisfying though. The things I have come up with is that the character is more or less an outcast, since the general society shuns Primals for their behaviour. So either my character must be a lone wanderer, or with people that understand him, like barbarians. Is this correct? It also says that primals are more or less aggressive against those who look down upon them, since they consider themselves blessed with unimaginable power. Would any troll guild accept me as a primal? I know shamans and barbarians are more tolerant to primals, but perhaps I would like to be part of a tribe or cult.

Snicka:
You don't have to be an outcast if you play a Primal; most troll tribes are barbaric enough to have Primals among them. A primal called Primal Torntusk is even the leader of the Revantusk tribe in the Hinterlands. What you'll have to explain is how your character left his tribe and entered the Horde lands (since the only troll tribe within the Horde, the Darkspear, is not likely to involve primals).

After a few more questions and answers, Annuvin posted images about troll Primals he created with WoW Modelviewer:

An eagle: http://img57.imageshack.us/my.php?image=eagleprimalpo2.png
