What name do you like the most?
The Hidden Valley
I was riding around our border in Stranglethorn, and decided to go check on th goblins by the lake as well, to see if it was time to disturb their operations again.
I ended up higheer into the hills than I had planned... And there I found it. A hidden path!
It was nearly overgrown completely. At one place a wall had been constructed right across it, and on another a big tree had grown to almost block it completely. I was curious and manged to squeeze by it.
And you won't ever guess what I found!
An entire valley. Blocked off and forgotten for loa knows how long. Tumbling down bridges, ancient stone temples, remains of villages. It's amazing! And it's obviusly not been visited for years and years.
Just imagine the possibilities.. We can make this place ours. We can rebuild one of the villages.
We will have lands that are truly ours.
What is this?
We have discovered the perfect place for rp. There is a super-easy way to get past the gate to Zul Gurub and get into a non-instanced version of it. It doesn't look exactly like the raid instance, more like a beta of it, and it is full of awesome. <screenies will be added here>
Is it allowed?
I had some concerns about this as well, so I talked to a gm about it. Forbidden zones count as forbidden when you use an exploit to get into them, such as being feared into a wall. All we do here is climb a hill, so it's perferctly all right.
How to get there?
I'll post a graphical guide soon. For now you'll have to do with this:
Stand facing the entrance of Zul Gurub. Turn right, and right again. There is a tower, climb it to the first floor and then jump down on the wall. Your goal is to get past the wall, aiming at the hills to the right of the Zul Gurub entrance. You'll get to a huge tree, jump/climb past it. Then there's just a small hill and you'll see an opening leading into the valley. You can jump down safely, but slow fall is nice. Aim to the left, right below you is a hole you don't want to fall into. This is the only dangerous part where you risk getting stuck in all the valley.
What will we do?
I advice you to go there and take a look at it, and you'll see the possibilities. For now, we're rping all the buildings as tumbled down, rotting skeletons of what they once where, since it's been abandoned for so long. Hopefully, restoring the valley can span at least half a year of subplots and great rp.
Ideas so far (feel free to add your own):
Base Camp
First, we want to rebuild the small huts near the entrance, to have a base for operations.
Safe Travel
Second, secure the bridge to the rest of the valley, to not have to swim the river each time.
Pleasing the Spirits.
The spirits of the gravesite and temples have been abandoned and alone for a long long time. We'll need to make them our friends. This will be big, and probably involve asking the help of shamans from the rest of the pact to aid our own.
Rededicating the Altars
Finding out what loas they were once dedicated to and either renew that, or attempt to change it to loas more suitable for us.
Gathering building materials
The Heritage was never very rich. We will need tools and materials. Will we steal from the goblins again? Will we raise gold to buy it? Find it elsewhere?
The Village
The village consists of several huts, all of which will need to be rebuilt, and people will get to pick a home for themselves. Hopefully, we'll have most of the guild moving in, making for some lovely village rp
The Town Hall
In the other village is a big building, a troll inn. It could be our town hall, and house gatherings of all sort. (wouldn't we impress the Pact greatly if we invited them to the hidden valley? ) It is a project in itself, needing new floorboards, new walls and new straw on the roof.
Research and Archaeology
Who used to live here? Is Ry right in her theory that it's the ancient Darkspear home? What happened to leave it abandonded? The place is full of remains. I want everyone to help write the story of what happened to this place, and what it used to be
And much more
This is just the start! The place has great potential!
Here is a preliminary map, a more decorative one will be made.
Red buildings are huts and houses, yellow ones are temples, gravesites and to the upper left, the fountain. The village we will make ours is the one with round huts, in the lower right corner, the entrance is the square structure on the far left.

Re: The Hidden Valley
I'm so excited by this and Ry has posted some excellent ideas there that should stimulate an enormous amount of rp.
Its up to the rest of us to pick them up and run with them. Please be free with adding any ideas you might have too...hopefully, once you all get to see the potential this place has, it will get the creative juices flowing

Re: The Hidden Valley
They all stand for the same thing, we are making things up. Antu' means overseer and the second part will roughly translate to people, kin, family. Put together a mening along the lines of the valley being a haven that will keep our people safe.
Re: The Hidden Valley
One problem though.. Cataclysm? More than likely once that hits, we'll lose our home. Though that could be involved in the rp, something destroys it?

Re: The Hidden Valley
So we might just as well get a new home in Cataclysm.Q. Will Trolls ever get either their own capitol, or a district in Orgrimmar like the Gnome district in Ironforge?
A. Personally, I think it adds a little to the troll story that they have such an amazing cultural legacy and have fallen so far from that in recent history. That said, we have a little bit of love for trolls in Cataclysm (beyond the ability to be just about every class in the game).

Re: The Hidden Valley
That is a fantastic discovery, Ryleen!
When starting the Heritage, I was always eager to find a good troll RP location. Sen'jin Village was in the starting zone with lots of low level lolboys running around, the Valley of Spirits was a bit too busy because of the portal, the region around Zul'Aman was only accessible through Silvermoon, and was often visited by raiding groups, Yojamba was full of NPC-s (with a regular execution ruining the mood), Shatterspear Village was very hard to access...
Your new discovery will spring a lot of RP possibilities!
One question though: can the members below level 30 access it without running into angry panthers, gorillas or trolls?

Re: The Hidden Valley
Updated with pretty pictures!
(Though right now we rp all buildings as tumbled down ruins, having been abandoned for so long. This is what it will look like when we have restored it)
Yes, Cataclysm is very likely to destroy this place. Along with the rest of the world... Having been told Stranglethorn will be one of the places with the most changes (and keeping in mind things like Azshara getting turned into a gigantic horde symbol), it will probably be pretty major.
But losing our new home should lead to interesting rp as well, so I don't see it as a problem.
To answer Snicka's question: We will have a lock alt permanently placed in the valley, to make travel easier. As a matter of fact, it's there already, with its bad full of soul shards

More Pik'chas!
Here are a few more Screenies showing what is potentially on offer
Where the Edge of Madness would be in Zul'Gurub, what looks like a stone circle with a clearing that's ideal for dueling, meetings, and even dancing! An untouched Altar with strange but beautiful statues, and multitudinous makeshift huts, (At this point in dire need of repair) scattered along the hillsides and cliffs that would be perfect for the guests in our valley.

The warlock Ry told us about maks things realy easy ... but if you what the experience of getting there on your own, I suggest you have a lv 55+ ...
First is al the normal mos .. ranging from 30 - 45, but you also have to pas (the way I tock) aout 12 lv 50-58 (ich) elite trolls guarding the entrance to ZG. Some of em can be avoided, but rest you have to survive/kill to get there. I am lv 50 hunter and got past em by riding in on me mount till I was dismounted ... then Freight death ... then run with traps slowing em and Freight death agen (just in time). But if you plan it smart you need 1-2 cc to get there as long as you ca survive the "normal" mobs
But hen agen, we have the lock ... höhö

Re: The Hidden Valley
I set the poll for five days, so it must be finished now.
The name of the valley is Antu'Rah!

Re: The Hidden Valley
I'm going to kick myself when someone tells me (in-game) about Antu'Rah.
I found the way into the hidden valley more than a year ago, when I was trying to sneak into Zul'Gurub without getting caught by the guards (I think I was only level 40-something at the time). But I fell into that damned hole and had to use my hearthstone to get out. I decided that there was no safe way to get to in so I never tried again. What a dim-witted murka!
Thank the Loa that Ryleen had more persistence and realised the potential of this discovery. I obviously wasn't a very good scout if I failed to find this place and Ryleen, a mage. did! Or did she perhaps use her arcane powers to find it, I wonder . . .
Anyway, well done Ryleen. Your plans for this place are awesome.
(Still wish I'd found it first though. *grumble*)

Re: The Hidden Valley
To be fair, I've been aware of it for a long time as well. It was just getting around to asking a gm about if we could use it or not that was in the way of doing this, since I'd been told you could get banned for being in there.
Re: The Hidden Valley
I can't think of a better spot, though one wonders hoes the lower level characters will get there (not that I see lowbies online all that much nowadays). Lovely spot, and I look forward to going there IC. Just don't be too surprised if a petite elf comes running in and taking notes

Re: The Hidden Valley
My now homeless, yet very adventurous Lonny!
Also, I doubt we'd lose this place in Cataclysm unless they're going to remove ZG as a raid, which would be a real blow. Going by past experiences, they'll update it at worst, though as in the timeline it'd be after the effects of Catalcysm, and thus, after the place had been cleared means that perhaps it'll be a phased region? Locked past a certain point/quest..?

Re: The Hidden Valley
The place as it looks today is very very unlikely to exist, as it's some kind of beta version of the zg instance.. But yes, something is likely to be there.. Just don't know what.
Re: The Hidden Valley
Updated with prettier version of the map. Probably still not the final one though.
Re: The Hidden Valley
I gues this is the best place to post about construction.
Note: Where it says Hadunka, it really says "Led By Hadunka have those staying in the valley (Ysandra and the kids I know) don that"
Hadunka have finished of temporary constructions on the 2 bridges that lead to the village. They look about the same as he ons in the game world ... just not so good boards in it. The construction is steady and will hold fore some time. But to use Hadunkas own words. "This will hold till we can build better .. but the building material was not prepared properly, so it will not hold for any longer period of time".
The rode to the village have bin cleared enough to let materials be ferried to the village.
Also the temporary "hunter camp houses" have bin moved to the location for the village.
Hadunak is now currently building temporary shelters to store building materials in (it is a jungle ) and properly preparing the materials to do good huts that will last and serve its inhabitants well. "To hurry wile building is a recipe for a failed construction"a
Hadunka have also gained axes to heavy "machinery" in the form of an elemental (ty Sertah) for heavy lifting and moving ^^. I am assuming that it is a Earth elemental.
