A interview with a beast master – Hadunka’s stories - Page 2 Empty Re: A interview with a beast master – Hadunka’s stories

Post  Hadunka Mon Jun 21, 2010 4:28 am

((This sorry take place from the evening before the day of the wedding (be twin Chabat and Kaz’jo) and the morning of that day. I had intended to post it before the event … but things got in the way. It is part one of two, and the second part will be posted after midsummer. It will set of Hadunka in to the chain of events that will (I plan to) bring him back to Antu’Rha and the Heritage. More info after the story))

Slowly the day turned in to dusk, a still breeze was blowing in from the “Forbidding Sea” bringing a smell of salt and seaweed. The shore of the hinterlands steeled in to darkness and the animals of the day hurried of to hide … son the hunters of dusk would emerge.

Still and silent, almost like a piece of the scenery is a troll sitting in meditation on a cliff high above the sea. The trolls have an aura of catlike awareness about him, his face relaxed and his ayes closed. As you look at him you might think your yes is playing a trick upon you, or maybe it is just the settling darkness, for the shadows around him seem to be alive and moving by their own will. Close … in the surroundings … is the sounds of the hunters of dusk, as they begin their deadly dance with the prey … the hunters stalks.

Hadunka have bin sitting still in meditation now for two days … this reminded him of his initial training to become a beast master. It was endless hours of meditating, allowing his mind and spirit to connect with the wild. This was now easy for him and he could already feel the animals al around him, but what he was trying to achieve now was different.

“go alone and meditate, and allow all that's around you to voice itself”

This was he told to do, to dwell deeper and find his centre … Well … this part was easy enough, sins listening to the surroundings was essential for his every day life as a beast master. The song of nature had always bin singing its song to him, so had it bin sins that day a little over 10 years ago. The day when the strange animal had come to him as he was playing on the outskirts of his village.

“My gift I bestow upon you, one of my chosen, my Hunter of Dusk and Dawn.” The animal had told him. It was manifested as a panther but as son as Had’nka received her blessing he could feel how much more she was.

When he later returned to the village declared a shaman that Beth’ekk was to be his loa, and a old Beast master had taken him in for training. This beast mater was also a “hunter of dusk and dawn”, but before he could finish Hadunkas training was he killed during the destruction of the Darkspear islands.

These thoughts come floating as he meditated … by why? Maybe they showed him what he was, connecting to the past to find the present.

For a second Hadunka dwelled on this … what would have bin had he bin able to finish his training? As it was now had he bin forced to rely n the “standard” beast master training that his father could give him, and what little he managed to learn during the two years he spent with Ji’kar ... his old master.

“But you must never dwell”

So Hadunka let go of the thoughts of his old master and continued to listen … the animals around him living their life, the grass seemed to make a sound as it grow. He could feel the small vibrations in the ground that signalled al the small creatures crawling and digging there.

He’s thought floated of in to distant land, maybe even his spirit, and landed close to his home … Antu’Rha … For that was how he though of it, he built most of it himself … and he had so many projects there that needed to be finished. In that place was also the people he cared about … his flock. But as he allowed the thoughts to rome wile with his hopes and dreams he realised that some thing was missing in Antu’Rha … he suddenly understood now. He had left because some thing inside him was driving him away … or rather driving him to akt upon his instincts. The spirit had bin right that he did not love Chabat in that way … nor did he rely hate Kaz’jo … these were projections ... figures of the mind. He had hidden from himself the truth … because the truth was to painful at that time. But eventually had is instincts forced him to act upon those feelings. He still could not truly realise what it was he felt so strongly in his spirit … what his “instincts” was shouting at him. He did know however that he was on the right path.

As these thought was floating by Hadunka relaxed, the conflict inside him was ebbing out and he started to see clearly. His surroundings was becoming more than just impressions on his senses … he seemed to feel them on a different level. But more importantly he found inside of him some thing trapped, some thing that he had held back an not allowed to evolve.

Suddenly was he standing in a glade with a dark green haze al around him. Shadows was moving al a round him and the sound of a struggling animal retched his ear.
The feral shadow lashed at him as he approached the chained animal, but he avoided its feral attack of defence. Then the shadow suddenly stopped and looked at him. It was shaped like a black cat animal, but no way of telling what kind; it was just pure shadow shaped in the rough form of a cat animal.

Slowly Had’nka approached the shadow, it was standing still … waiting. As he came with in reach of the animal he let his hand run over its back and he felt a kin ship with it … it was nor just a shadow … it was a piece of him, the gift he had in his young age. And as he realised that the chain holding the animal diapered and hit leaped thru him. Suddenly he did not feel like the heavy troll any more, he would feel how he was light as shadow. With a happy feeling, like a uncaged animal he started to run thru the forest in tremendous speed. Son he realised he was not running alone … beside him like a extetion of his body was the shadow. And with a roar he trusted himself forward and the shadow joined with him.

As sudden as it had appeared was the green hazed glade and forest goon and he once agen could feel his heavy body as he was sitting on the cliff … but there was some thing ells now … like he was more than before, he could feel how some thing tugged him and how he was burning with feral power inside himself, and so he once agen let his spirit lose of the leech.

And so he could feel it … a connection … similar to the one he shared with Caithhan, but different. It was some thing much bigger and he stretched in his mind to it … out of curiosity letting his bestial spirit run wild like it was suppose to do, and merged with this unknown …

He was still himself but part of some thing else … he could he se himself from a handful of ayes, and he realised that it was thru the ayes of the animals close to him.
The experience was discomforting … not because it was scary or horrible … but because he was not used to it. He could feel the newfound feral urge driving him on … wanting to show him some thing. So he allowed himself to float with on this wave of instincts, finally letting his feral part run free ... not caged like a circus animal but free as the wild animal it was, becoming part of the universe around him … connecting him deeper to the shadows of the spirits of dusk and dawn.

He could now se thru hundreds of animals a large part of hinterlands. From the ayes of a bird he looked down upon the village of Raventusk and saw those he would cal his flock … both those he grow up with and the trolls of Antu’Rha that was staying there. Quietly he watched them from a far as they was getting up for the day and making breakfast. With a calm mind he realised that it was dawn … and it was the day of the wedding. Maybe he should go … to show he was not angry any more … but he did not want to leave this state, there was some thing more to se … to understand … and so he fell in to a deep deep state of meditation as his spirit roomed the wild free as the predator … memories and hops floating together, forming a hole … allowing him to se … to find the answer in the shadows of dusk and dawn.

((Until I post the next story will Hadunka be sitting on the cliff by the grand water fall in North West of Hinterlands. If any one goes there to se him will he not respond with his body in any way. He is sitting like the female trolls do and his ayes are closed.
If some one stays there long enough will animals start to appear and be generally friendly. Any hostile action to him will make the animal attack though. ))

((And so its time for part tw of "Shadows of Dusk and dawn. This will set of Had'nka in the direction to get back to the heritage))

Shadows floating, a different view of the world. The impressions on his senses, it is a wonderful feeling. It had bin a good time, just existing in the realm of Dusk. But every thing will eventually come to an end, that he understood better now. He wondered if he ever would be able to return here, so liberating just travelling in the spirit of a shadow beast.

With a gentle purr he cuddled up on the cliff overlooking Antu’Rha. Even though he was in a different realm of realty, could he still se and smell thru the shadows in to the “real” world. Down below him nestling in the dark is the huts of Snika’Vata. The stench of worry was heavy in the air … no wonder sins the agents of the house was poking around just outside the entrants to the valley. Hadunka sighted … he should never have left, but he had to. He missed them al, but what had driven him away was necessary to happen. He could se so much clearer as his bestial self. Al the barriers and “rational thingking” of troll minde was gone. Left was instinct and conviction. Still there was some thing eluding him in the back of his mind … the very core reason for him leaving in the first please. He would find it sooner or later …

With a satisfying roar he stood up and stretched his muscular body. With a few mighty leaps he makes his way down in to the outskirts of the village and starts prowling around. It was not rely necessary to hide, as he would not be seen by normal ayes … but if any of the more spiritual sensitive were to be awake, they might sense his presence. One by one he checks al the huts so that nothing is a miss, She’mai greets him with a happy “yip!” as he looks in to Cha’bats and Kas’jos hut. He gives her a “spiritual” lick, and she falls back to sleep without waking up the other two.
After checking on al the huts and confirming that every thing is in order, he sneaks of to the entrance of the village.

Resting in some vegetation a bit above the entry way to the village is Shu'si lying on guard. Hadunka purrs gently at her and she smiles back to her master. Hadunka hurries on over to the Animal pens, were the raptors sense his presence … but unlike the panthers and She’mai they can not “se” him. With some agile jumps he then head over to the entrance to the valley itself. Here is Sha'russ holding guard together with his two younger brothers Sha’ter and Sha’rur.
Hadunka is pleased that the defences of Antu’Rha is getting in to place … and even if the others do not know it yet … is the first class of guarding panthers in full duty.

As he pleased with himself wanders back thru the valley he suddenly sense a presence, but not here. With the speed of thought is he back at his body in the hinterlands … to meet the mighty manifestation sitting there waiting for him. Here in the realm of dusk there is no need for a physical form, as every thing is presented as you expect it to be. So to Hadunka is in front of him a bight panther.

“You have travelled a long road my childe ... and it seems as if it have don you good. We knew that some time in the realm of dusk would help you se. But your body is weakening and you need to return to the land of the living again. But there is yet some thing you still hide from yourself, and it is understandable as it is a painful experience that made you hide it.”
The spirit miles warmly to Hadunka, and continues to speak:
“You stand now in a cros road my childe, you can stay here and forever be part of the dusk – a shadow watching the world. Or you can take the difficult path back to the real world and serve your Loa. Be aware though that if you chose life, will you never be able to come back to the realm of dusk. This place is not for the living, you have bin grated a special gift for this time sins it was deemed necessary by the roller of dusk. You will be able to contact the beasts of dusk and to some extent se them, but not be a spirit in it like you are now.” Hadunka feels his mood drop, as he likes it here …

“Al things come to an end” The lesson of Bet’jach rings in his ear.

“I understand … and so it must bee” he replies. The manifestation looks to the side:
“I told you he would come thru for us … “ Hadunka cannot se ho it speaks to, but some thing is lurking in the shadows. And the manifestation continues to talk to Hadunka. “Now go and find what is lacking in you ... what you have hidden” and Suddenly a path can be seen in the woods. With a little hesitation Hadunka moves in to the forest.

Hadunka do not recognise the forest, and understand that he no longer are in the realm of dusk. He still feels the connection to the animals of the forest, and if he concentrates can he se thru their ayes. But now was not the time to se what was going on out there, he had plenty to do … were evr he was now. He could se some thing had walked past here recently … a humanoid by the look of it. Out of curiosity he starts to follow it, tracing its way thru the forest.

Wile tracking he could not help thinking of what the manifestation had said. A painful experience … what would it be. Maybe it had some thing to do with this deal with Cha’bat. But is so what was it … it cannot have bin when he find out about her and Kas’jo, that was not forgotten, and no longer an issue even. “You love for her is rely love for some one else” The words of Bet’jach comes to the surface again. But what … what painful experience would make him “pretend” to love Cha’bat instead of some one else.

Silent as a shadow Hadunka follows the trail, still at the same time pondering these questions. Slowly was he catching up on his prey, not rely knowing what it is.

In a glade a head of him can he sense the smell of some thing … familiar? He cannot put his finger on what it is, but he knows the sent. Slowly he seeks thru the underbrush towards it, still following the trail. It seems as if whatever he has bin tracking is what he smells. Carefully he peeks out in to the glade … and suddenly he see … he can see clear now … the forests melt away and al he sees is the person in the glade.

Suddenly is he sitting on the cliff by the waterfall close to the sea again … he feels weary and wobbles a bit as he one again gets control of his own troll limbs. With a heavy sigh and a silly smile he lies down excused on the cliff … If he only had known earlier, if only he had understood. But with the blessing of Beth’ekk will it al be good eventually.

With a excused smile and weak movements he starts to make his way towards the woods. Now first food and then … well, then we will se …
