((apologies for this appearing somewhat 'matter-of-fact' but I prefer to refrain from misquoting, and so shall avoid any words being spoken. Alas, that means it reads as an overall description of events, and in somewhat painfully cold diction, for which I apologise profusely. Additionally, apologies for any ill-fitting terminology, but I was somewhat emotional, and -very- tired when all of this took place.))

Lyranne had been trying desperately to focus on aything she could that aided her torment. Since she dealt with Emeline, she had found the light had started to abandon her. It would come and go on a whim, and no matter how hard she tried, it would only return of its own accord.

Looking for something to fight for she ventured to the Plaguelands and fought the sourge to the best of her erratic abilities. She travelled far, and fought against every drop from the Necropolices. When the scourge were dealt with, she would tunr elsewhere, venturing into enemy territory and fighting whatever she found. She found herself avoiding Thunder Bluff - the last place she felt she could call home. And with that, she started to drift, finding herself returning to Under City, looking for something... Maybe an answer, maybe a challenge. She sat in the courtyard, amongst the ruins on the central plinth, and waited. She pondered her reasons for being there, and found she didn't care enough for why.

After a while, Quintilius walked up to her, and sat nearby. As was always the case, they exchanged friendly greetings, and started to chat about various things. Lyranne, feeling she could trust him, disclosed her worries about losing touch with the Light. He looked to her and said he didn't know enough about it, but knew he disliked the light for it hurt him so. Lyranne becamse lost in her thoughts more thanonce, and Quin did his best to reassure her that she'd made the right decisions. She remained unsure, and when Kadris arrived, dressed in a dress of pourest white, she found herself almost mesmerised. She'd seen kadris before, but never realised quite how beautiful she was. She was warm, and Lyranne, in her state, spoke to Kadris about what was troubling her.

Kadris smiled and said that she'd been through the same, that the light had abandoned her, but that she was stronger without is. Lyranne peered at her, unsure of how this was possible, and asked.

Kadris then explained about the power of shadow, and just how much it can sustain ones power, and make you feel complete. Lyranne, on many days, would have moved on from this, and saught out solace elsewhere, but in the here and now, she was entranced. Kadris' presence, and Quintilius' assurance, encouraged Lyranne to try shadow.

Kadris absorbed shadow into her, and channelled it out of her mouth, and breathed the vapours into Lyranne's face. She in turn took it slowly at first, breathing in the vapours, with deep breaths and was struck by how instant the effect was. Kadris again channelled more shadow for Lyranne to feed off of, and with each breath, Lyranne loved it more. It became almost euphoric, and she found herself becoming lost in its power.

After a while, a forsaken gentlemen walked by, and questioned Kadris, and what she was doing. She turned to the man, and seemed most displeased with his interference. Returning her focus to Lyranne, she gently kissed her one the lips, which was responded to most eagerly. Lyranne again felt that esctacy, and felt the shadow pulse through her body, following a rhythmic thrumming that made her feel ever more relaxed.

Then Gwenderline arrived. She seemed scared of Lyranne's situation, reading it as Quin and Kadris forcing it onto Lyranne. She wouldn't listen to any of them, and in trying to protect Lyranne, caused her distress. Eventually, Quin ordered Gwen to step down to her superior, which she refused. They then challenged each other to a fight outside the City walls. Lyranne was desperately trying to stop what was happening, but all she could find to do was turn to Kadris.

They all ventured outside, and in her last attempt to use what little light remained, Lyranne aimed to protect Gwen. It backfired, and knocked Lyranne to the ground. And when she regained consciousness she felt then that the light had truly forsaken her.

Gwen was defeated by Quin, who had ordered her to report to the Ashen Order for punishment. Lyranne found herself angry and scared that the light had so readily left, and Kadris, another House representative, and Quin, all made sure she was okay. In her now weakened state, Kadris took her somewhere more private to feed Lyranne more shadow. Feeling so cut off from the light, she was even more willing to succomb. They kissed, and each time, more shadow flowed through Lyranne, and her body reacted violently. Lyranne screamed in euphoric bliss, and for the first time in as long as she recalled, she felt strong. When it came time to depart, Lyranne was reluctant. The power she had tasted still only feeling to her like a starter. She left, hungry for more.

((I've no real idea where I aim to go with Lyranne, and/or just how far she might go. I've always felt she should fall, simply because she was seen by many as 'truly good' which annoyed me somewhat as I prefered to think of her as more rounded than that. In addition, I feel that too few 'good' characters pay for what they do, even if under the impression it is 'right' and 'just'. Those absolutes baffle me, for the most part, and it's why I've pushed Lyranne further into the grey. Part of this was exclusively because I was angry with someone I used to rely on for RP. Thank you for reading this, and I know it lacks quality and an emotional core, but as stated previously, it's awkward when it's essentially a transcript of something that happened, only without a copy of the lines.))

((The taint will be with her, and it's entirely up to you all how you wish to deal with it. I don't want to leave the Heritage, but if this continues, she -will- fall.))

(( I can't really say yet how Chabat will react to this. I think it will depend how Lyranne's behaviour towards -her- changes. What you should remember is that, for the most part, trolls are well aquainted with the darker side of their nature. If anything, aligning with the horde has been steering them away from that. Personally, i feel the -true- witchdoctors and voodoo preists would probably welcome this change and see it as Lyranne becoming more attuned with the trolls way of life. Certainly Vypra will feel that the steps Lyranne took in dealing with Ememline were her first steps toward becomming more accepted by the Loa.

The only problem you now have is that Vyp will be a mite upset about Gwen getting hurt both by Quint and what happend as a result of that. However, depending on how things play out, its quite likely that she won't stay angry for long (its not really in her nature to be honest) and will not really discourage Lyranne from taking this path (she's perfectly comfortable around warlocks and shadow preists already Wink ).

As far as the Heritage goes, with only one or two exceptions, i find it difficult to see anybody being particularly opposed to this. Either way, i hope this development works out well for you and stirs up some good rp Smile ))

((Well, despite some people feeling otherwise, I really don't think I have it in me to do a darker character justice. Mostly because I'm too self conscious that many hear those words and immedately seem to become hostile. That's fair enough in some situations, but it feels like many RPers want their friends to be coookie-cut good guys and girls, wth no failings. In trying to round Lyranne out, I discovered that the hard way. Now, I find myself in a position that although I didn't seek, I find myself intrigued by. However, within a day, it seems more people know IC than I feel have the right to. I've already had whispers about her, and to be honest, it seems many simply don't wish for Lyranne to be anything but a bastion of light and all that is good, pure, and incorruptable.

I spoke to a few people about how I percieve the idea of the light, and pointed out I don't think the shadow is any more or less corrupting. The light works through a person, it can be used to help or hinder, to kill or bring back from the dead. That kind of power is to me far more corrupting than shadow, which everyone accepts as being 'dangerous'. The only real difference being that the light allows a finer middle-ground. However, Lyranne's decisions have been less about her race, and the light, and more about what she feels is right. That she does most things on instinct and gut feelings is ironically why she is seen as good, and not because of the assumption made by others that she is geeod because the wields the light (the lore did contradict that for Belf Paladins anyway). Lyranne -nearly- became blinded by the light, she may end up being consumed by shadow (personally, I'd prefer to have as much control over her as possible, so I'm going to have to find a compromise, fast), but whatever happens, she won't turn against her friends unless they appear to wish her harm.))
